About Paarl Gymnasium
Paarl Gymnasium is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in all of South Africa. The school was established in 1858 and have been providing pupils with exemplary education for centuries. We pride ourselves on the many successes that our school have reached in terms of academics, sports and culture.
At our school, parents can expect that their children will receive the best Afrikaans education. For those that do not live in, or near Paarl, you are welcome to view our residences and the facilities that we have on offer. Here, we truly welcome each child and everyone parts as an integral part of the Gimmie family. We have 2 residences available, known as Huis McFarlane and Huis Kalahari Visser.

Parents can rest assured that your children will receive top quality education, as well as learning and development on an extensive range of sectors, at Paarl Gymnasium. Here, we believe in fully letting every child develop to his/her own potential by partaking in outdoor activities that he/she prefers.
We are one of the top schools in South Africa as far as sports like hockey, netball, rugby, swimming and athletics are concerned, but this does not mean that we do not pay the same amount of attention to our cultural side, through drama, revue, choir, Gimmies Got Talent shows, and loads more.
From Grade 10 – Matric, learners are free to follow and complete their own subjects of choice. We require that all learners complete subjects such as Afrikaans, English, Maths and Life Orientation. Apart from this, they can choose between:

- business Economics
- accounting
- life science
- physical science
- engineering & design
- computer applications technology
- consumer Studies
- music
- drama
Or some afterhours subjects:
- Design (Art Centre)
- Visual Arts (Art Centre)
- Information Technology
